The design of the stainless steel case is elegantly sporty, with a satin-brushed bezel and front, and finely polished sides. The timepiece is 12 mm thick and has a lug-to-lug width of 51.5 mm, which gives the watch a good presence on the wrist without detracting from its immanent wearability.
The dial is black and features stamped silver-white Arabic-Indian numerals. The numerals are circumscribed by a slightly raised ring with luminous hour markers. The outer edge of the dial is a rehaut with an applied minute track. The day-date display is located at 3 o’clock, and both the date and the day of the week are printed on a white background that contrasts nicely with the black dial. The Seiko logo and the Seiko 5 shield appear below 12 o’clock, and the words “Automatic, 21 Jewels, 50M” are applied just above 6. The time is indicated by lume-filled dauphine hands.
Seiko utilizes its own in-house mineral glass compound, Hardlex for both the crystal and the see-through case back.
The watch comes on a three-link stainless steel bracelet. As with all models in the Seiko 5 line, the links are folded and the end links are hollow.
